Cultural Programming 2008-2009

Sunday, May 11, 2008

Dear Friends,

Combining a lecture on wine or chocolate with a tasting afterwards, honoring the French Presidency of the European Union, celebrating Black History Month or la Francophonie, sparking discussions on the environment or cancer research, being introduced to exciting short films , finding out what’s new in urban culture, getting swept away by jazz,  inviting artists who perform for younger audiences…

Hundreds of options have already been selected for the 2008-2009 cultural season and we are thrilled to share them with you.

The Delegation general asks that you please confirm your lecture and artist choices before May 31st, 2008.  (A deposit by way of final confirmation should be sent before May 31st for tours between September and December 2009 and by August 30th for tours between January and May 2009.)

Please note that deposits to reserve artists will be $300.00 this year.

We would like to remind you that the conditions required for hosting an event and the event reservation forms are all available on the Delegation general’s website:

1) Cultural programming/lecturers or cultural programming/artists

2) At the bottom of the page of the lecturer or artist that you would like to reserve, click on the link “Host this lecture/performance – Online forms” OR ”Host this lecture/performance – Paper forms”.

ID and password remain unchanged (contact | 202 944 6356 if you need to receive them again.)

Please do not forget to mention on your registration form several possible dates so that we have some flexibility when setting the itinerary for the tour.

Almost a third of our lecturers have agreed to speak to student audiences, in French or in English, which is an opportunity for us to establish partnerships with schools or to build a lecture program for advanced students in your Alliances.  Le Bureau du Livre in New York has just confirmed that Jacques Roubaud (spring 2009) has agreed to join us in the Synergie program, as has Olivier Philipponnat (October 2008).  The subjects and exact dates for their availability will soon be available on the Delegation general’s website.

On May 31st, we will say good-bye to Elodie Trétout.  On April 29th, we welcomed Maïra Foucher de Melo, who will replace her until September 30th, and Natalie West, who will work until the end of August on updating information in our network database.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need help or would like more information in order to set up your cultural programs calendar for next year.

Cordially,

Isabelle Gruet
Déléguée générale adjointe
