A new initiative from the French Institute – Alliance Française in New York is worth mentioning in light of the stronger connection that we are always striving for between media libraries and language centers.

Katharine Branning, head media librarian of the "John & Francine Haskell Library", has recently created a series of three brochures designed to welcome students of French to the often intimidating world of library resources.

The brochures suggest 9 ways of discovering library resources for each of the first three levels of the Common European Framework of Reference A1, A2, B1 : “I can…listen, read, speak… practice my skills, have fun while learning..."  Under each of those are listed recommendations of specific books and audiovisual documents that are sure to help users take advantage of the riches of the media library.
