“It’s love at first sight for this charismatic artist with his funny and poetic universe.”
Le journal de l’Orne
“We need to listen closely to discover the constantly moving universe of this extravagant personality who is still able to distill poetry which is both touching and enchanting. Atypical and unclassifiable, Barcella seems to only demand the right to dream and to make us dream.”

The Performer
Recipient of the SACEM Author Prize in 2009, winner of the Vesoul Jacques Brel Competition in the same year, 3rd place taker in the 2008 world championships and winner of the world slam championship in 2007, Barcella has won unanimous support for his work.
Although he has already given almost 250 concerts in five years, participating in the Francopholies in La Rochelle, on the stage of “Tout pour la musique” on channel France 3 and in primetime with Tryo, Francis Cabrel, Sanseverino, Cali, Hugues Aufray, Java, the Wriggles, Alexis HK and Anis, Barcella has also proven to be an excellent teacher when it comes to passing on his passion for slam. As an alumnus of the IUFM (Institute of Teacher Training), he regularly organizes slam workshops for the general public.
At age 28, Barcella navigates through time and generations with a disarming grace and a passion for words which he cannot imagine without music, and with the objective of “prominently displaying the world’s poetry.”
Barcella grew up in Reims surrounded by his sister’s violin, his mother’s plays, and the stories his father read to him. Unsurprisingly, he wrote his first poems at age 10. Today, the accomplished author-composer-performer has taken his mother’s Italian surname as a stage name in testimony to the importance of this heritage.
Barcella has a particular affection for Piaf, Brassens and Léo Ferré. He is also the prince of slam (French champion in 2007) and is steeped in hip hop. His delightfully heterogeneous inspiration, his talent and his eloquence make this one-of-a-kind stage man a charismatic, funny and touching artist.
