Gilles Roucaute
“Coming out of the tradition of Lemarque, Brassens, Mouloudji and given the talent and enthusiasm of his youth, combined with solid professionalism, he knows how to make good use of generous outpourings of music and words that have been formed with great love”.
L’Alsace
Gilles Roucaute
“The generous album offers us French song in its purest state, rich and powerful, never impeding, in spite of its strength, voices of subtlety, nuance, and precision.”

The Performers
Gilles Roucaute and François Verguet met in 2001. Since they were both lyricists, composers, and singers, they began building on and developing their common talents while working together on several projects. They cultivated their own originality within the diversity of the French music scene.
Since 2002, guitarist François Verguet has been teaming up with singers Lo Glasman, Hirip, Gildas Thomas and Anne Demortain.
Guitarist and singer Gilles Roucaute also received honors in 2002, when he received the AMOPA prize for best lyrics and a third-place Utopia prize for best song. Gilles Roucaute’s rising star converged with yet another high honor—he was awarded the Groupama prize in the tenth competition of the French song in 2007 for Toi [“You”] a piece co-written with Laurent Berger.
Having grown quite accustomed to sharing the stage with each other, in 2004, they created the show Croisons les Ch’mins [Crossing Paths] with the participation of François Gaillard and Frédéric Bobin. They performed over 200 shows together in France and in French-speaking countries, including Switzerland, Canada and Belgium.
Performances and Recordings
Gilles Roucaute has released three albums favorably reviewed by the French press: Premiers Pas [First Steps]in 2003, Chansons Fleuves [Song Sequences]in 2005, and Avant-scène [Proscenium] in 2007. François Verguet is putting the final touches on his first album, which is expected to be out sometime in 2009. Having toured in 2008 in Canada, Gilles Roucaute and François Verguet are looking for new performance venues outside of France.
