Les Lutins Du Court-Métrage

For eleven years, the Lutins du Court-métrage (Leprechauns of the short film) have been working to promote and disseminate short films to a wider audience.
More than 2,000 professionals from the cinema vote each year in a format inspired by the Césars to determine the 25 best short films of the year, thereby bestowing upon them a mark of excellence. Supported by numerous partners, including the Ministry of Culture, the National Center of Cinematography (CNC), the mayor’s office of Paris, and the National Theater of Chaillot, the Leprechauns of the short film thus participate in the discovery of young directors, actors and actresses who will be making the films of tomorrow. The Leprechauns, or, as they are known in French, les Lutins, have participated over the past ten years in the emergence of such filmmakers as François Ozon, and actors such as Jérémie Rénier, Ludivine Sagnier, Sulvie Testud...
In 2008, "Le Mozart des pickpockets" by Philippe-Pollet Villard, awarded "Lutins" for best short film and best scenario in 2007, wins a César and an Oscar.
The Délégation générale has produced a Teacher's guide for teaching French as a Foreign Language based on "Le Mozart..."
Today, the Leprechauns strive to make young talents known in France through a cinematic tour de France, so to speak, during which the best short films of the year are shown in cinemas. The same is accomplished abroad through French presentations of some of these films.
And so, for two years now, and at the initiative of the Alliance Française of Bombay, DVDs of a selection of short films nominated by the Leprechauns have been making the circuit of Alliance Françaises in India. The Leprechauns’ program was also disseminated in Hong Kong and in South Korea in 2006, and it will be on tour in Latin America in 2007...
